It is so easy to get caught up in the fast paced life when you have a job, a schedule and endless responsibilities. When you wake up, it’s raining, you’ve overslept and have a million things on your ‘To Do’ list, we say to ourselves “It’s already a bad day and it’s only 8am”.
I would be like this constantly, blaming everything BUT my mindset for having bad days. Missed a schedule? It’s a bad day. Burnt my toast in the morning? That’s because it’s a bad day. And so on. I realised that this was because I was rushing my routine to get THROUGH the day, and I forgot how lucky I am to actually LIVE another day.
I can’t remember where I was or why I read it, but I saw a quote quite recently – “Slow living – Embracing simplicity, savoring the present moment and finding inner peace amidst the chaos”
This simple yet life changing statement turned on a switch in my brain, and honestly, I have been much happier since. The second you slow down, the more you can experience gratitude in the little things. Yes, it may be raining outside, but I’m going to make myself a really nice coffee and read a chapter of a book whilst being cosy inside. I’ve got stuck in traffic? Let’s play some of my favourite music and sing at the top of my lungs.
The second that you realise that there are things to be grateful for all around you, is the second that you can change your mindset. Gratitude is one of the highest frequencies our human brain can be in. By raising your vibrations by trying to think positively, you will subconsciously start seeing the good around you more.
And that brings me back to these ‘bad days’. There is no such thing as a bad day. I have completely eliminated that phrase from my vocabulary. If one ‘bad’ thing happens to us when we first get out of bed, we keep finding the negatives. So now, if one ‘bad’ thing DOES happen, say “it’s okay” and move on. If two things happen, again, say ok and move on. Tell yourself it’s a good day regardless, and the more you practice this, the easier it will become to find the good things around you.
Every day can be a good day if you slow down, live in the present moment, and make it happen.
